Retreat Location
Deep down in the jungle of Khao Sok
This meditation retreat will take place in the rainforest of Khao Sok, Suratthani province, Thailand. It is said that this is the oldest jungle on the planet (165 million years), as it wasn’t hit by the ice age. Even older and more diverse than the Amazon rainforest!
Khao Sok National Park has amazing flora and fauna, including wildlife such as the Malaysian tapir, the Asian elephant, the sambar deer, the wild boar, the pig-tailed macaque, the white-handed gibbon, and even bears, leopards and tigers! Yet there is no need to be afraid of anything, as these beasts avoid the small village where we will live.
Although it is also very famous for its largest flower on earth (Rafflesia), I have to disappoint everyone because it is very difficult to find and only blooms for 5 days. It should be a series of rare coincidences for one to see this huge flower. However, here is also the largest butterfly, the Atlas butterfly, which is not a big rarity in the Khao Sok jungle.
Retreat Accommodation
Traditional jungle huts with a bit of luxury
Throughout the ten-day retreat, you will stay 7 nights in Morning Mist Resort at Khao Sok National Park and 3 nights in the old Suan Mokkh Monastery. Later you can attend to a 10 days Vipassana meditation retreat in the modern part of the monastery.
Morning Mist Resort is one of the greenest resort in Khao Sok with 42 rooms, full service and a pool nestled in the lush hills, overlooking the bright scenery of the limestone mountains. It offers a unique combination of breathtaking views and modern accommodations. Completely hip and cool, Morning Mist Resort is an oasis for guests seeking a respite from the crowds and noise from the more urban locations as well as those seeking a light meditation retreat or a wellness holiday. The poolside restaurant serves delicious Western and traditional dishes. Daily meals are included in the price.
Suan Mokkh monastery is quite different as it is as pure as possible. No luxury at all! You will live as the monks are living in the monastery for decades. Literally you’ll sleep on the wooden ground topped with reed-maces in a wooden dormitory for 3 nights. The “bathroom” is with cold water, the restroom is not western style. Later in the International Dharma Hermitage the accommodation is much more comfortable, but not luxury. Accept that it is a real monastery.

Food
Delicious western and traditional local Thai food
Delight your taste buds with the wide array of flavors at the accommodation, or somewhere on the small main street of the jungle. Foods ranging from delectable Thai cuisine to East European, Italian, and other western recipes, the choices are many but each is definitely a feast of deliciousness.
On the other hand, lunch and dinner can be any item of your choice from the regular menu, the retreat menu, excursion menu, or you can eat outside as well. The new vegetarian and raw menu is offered as well. All the food is your choice, as it is a thing that is quite personal. So the food is not included in the price!

It is highly understood if you don’t have the mood to meditate or practice. No worries, everything is up to you! Take your time, go with the flow. If you don’t want to participate in an adventure that’s all right. If you don’t want to join to the evening explanation of the next day that’s fine…but you’ll miss lots of important information that you’ll need to know for sure!
Teachings
Practical insight into the field of consciousness
Each afternoon we will be taught mostly Eastern techniques that can be used in everyday life. The practices we learn come mainly from Tibet, India, Nepal and Thailand. Be it meditative intuition or professional clairvoyance. Conscious dreaming or conscious creation in a meditative state of consciousness. We will learn several techniques from meditations that can be used in everyday situations to professional meditations.
We will learn several techniques that we will be able to use in everyday life and in our profession. Things that will affect our relationship, our self-esteem, our satisfaction, the achievement of our goals, and so on for the rest of our lives.
Not only will we learn all of these techniques on a theoretical level, but we will have to practice them all on the spot, as we will immediately have questions to answer and thus correct / improve the resuscitation of our innate abilities.
Meditations
Flow within step by step
We first tune in to the environment, which can be said without any exaggeration to be mind-boggling, stunning, captivating, enchanting, hypnotic. This is guaranteed to set the mood.
We are introduced to several styles of meditation, but it is recommended to fuse them all into our own nature. There are no requirements and no expectations. Everyone is moving at their own pace on the road, no stress.
Two things will happen day by day: First, we incorporate the action-based mediated lifestyle into our daily lives. And second, we learn different techniques from experienced monks that we can’t get in the West, in such a first-hand, in such an authentic environment. In the end, we can be prepared to participate in the ten-day Vipassana retreat, or we can incorporate what we have learned into our lives and pass it on to others.
Adventures and activities
In the oldest jungle on planet earth
The first adventure is to arrive and be there. This in itself is an unforgettable experience at perhaps the most ancient point on the planet earth. So, of course, everything we feel, see, smell, and perceive on our skin that we touch is truly flying us back to prehistoric times.
We will have walks in the deep jungle, we will wash the elephants, visit the waterfall in the National Park and meditate on the side or in the pond. Having an encounter with the monkeys, explore the local cave. Raft in the main river of Khao Sok, under the huge trees, flowing in the sounds of the jungle. On a special longer day we will visit a deep turqoise sweet water lake called Cheow Larn lake surrounded by realy ancient the quite huge limestone cliffs loaded with elephants, monkeys and hidden wilderness.
So all together we can say we will have activities and passivities. It will be a smooth rollercoaster that is no doubt will be a lifetime memory for all of us. Deep in ourselves it will be a genuine treasure in our mind, heart and soul.
It is on the bucket list for millions of people and it is just right here in our hands for us!
